This book is full of great and helpful advice on how to promote a self-published book. It's short and to the point and can be read in one sitting. Ms. Vanderslice shares some interesting and valuable trade secrets that I would never have known!
I found this guide to be easy to read and full of simple, yet powerful advice and suggestions. It is a great primer on how to promote a book effectively.
Since "frugal" is one of my favorite words ... it's easy to see why I recommend this book. Having been in the book biz for over 5 years, I've found that you make a lot of mistakes & it's frustrating to know where to turn for answers. You can pay people big money for this information. But - Jennifer Vanderslice has answered all of the questions for you & provided you with the necessary connections that will save you money and time. Her book is very clean & organized, and direct to the point. I promise that if you are looking for answers...this will be the best money you can spend!
I started The Frugal Publicist with the notion that I would read it for 10-15 minutes and then move on to something else. My plan was to read the entire book over a week's time. But after the first 5 minutes, I was hooked. I couldn't stop reading...and taking notes. I work extremely hard at publicizing my books. I speak at conventions, write a blog, host a radio show, sell at all sorts of fests and art shows. In short, I thought I knew how to promote my work. But honestly, this book taught me things I hadn't considered...such as E-bates, for example. Even after 8 years of promoting my work, day in and day out, I learned a lot.

I'm a self-confessed "book snob," and I don't enjoy books that aren't well-written. Even "how to" books must be interesting and well-crafted. And I was prepared for this book to be good, but not great. I was wrong. It's GREAT. It's funny, informative, engaging, and detailed. The Frugal Publicist is quite simply "a good read."
